Verbs
There are three main patterns for Spanish verbs - those ending -ar, -er and -ir.

The verb "to be"
there are two different Spanish verbs - ser and estar.

Ser - for permanent states:

soy ingles I am English
eres guapa you are beautiful (always)
es (s)he is / you are / it...
somos Californianos we are from California
sois you (plural) are
(ustedes) son they are/you are

Example: es un Castillo medieval - it is a medieval castle


Estar - for location or temporary condition:


Estoy perido I am lost
estás guapa you are beautiful (today)
está (s)he is/you are
estamos we are
estáis you are
están they are / you are

Examples: how are you? - ¿cómo está? / where is the beach? - ¿dónde está la playa?
